HomeButler HomeButler Care Terms

Draft under review. These terms are not yet in effect, and bracketed items are still to be filled in. Nothing is for sale until checkout opens.

Effective date: [EFFECTIVE DATE] · Last updated: [LAST UPDATED DATE]

Automatic renewal — key terms (shown at checkout, next to the "Subscribe" button)

  • HomeButler Care costs $199 per year (plus applicable tax). The first year is included with every HomeButler box; you are not charged for it.
  • Once you subscribe, it renews automatically every year and your card will be charged $199 each year until you cancel.
  • You can cancel any time online at [ACCOUNT / CANCELLATION URL], by email to support@iramccune.com, or by phone/text at [SUPPORT PHONE].
  • Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current yearly billing period. You keep support until then.
  • No prorated or partial refunds for the year in which you cancel or for unused time.
  • We email you a reminder before every yearly charge, with the amount, the date and how to cancel.

These HomeButler Care Terms ("Care Terms") add to our Terms of Sale, Refund Policy and Privacy Policy. If these Care Terms conflict with the Terms of Sale about the support plan, these Care Terms control.

1. What HomeButler Care is

A yearly subscription that gives your household help from real people with your HomeButler system, around the clock. Every HomeButler box comes with its first year of Care included, starting on the day the box is delivered (or installed, for Family Hub).

2. Price and billing

  • $199 per year, plus any sales tax that applies, charged in advance to the payment method you give at sign-up, on the same date each year.
  • Included first year. If you bought a HomeButler box, your first year of Care costs nothing. Near its end we email you to ask whether you want to continue. We do not charge you for a second year unless you subscribe and agree to the yearly renewal. [Attorney: confirm; collecting the card and the renewal consent at box checkout instead would make this a free-to-paid conversion with extra disclosure and reminder rules.]
  • If a payment fails, we will retry and email you. If it is still unpaid after [7] days, support may be paused until payment is made. We won't charge late fees.
  • Price changes: we will email you at least [30] days before any price increase takes effect, explain the new price and the date, and remind you how to cancel. The new price applies only from your next billing period after that date.

3. How to reach us (24/7)

Channel How
Email support@iramccune.com
Phone / text [SUPPORT PHONE]
In-app request In the HomeButler app: More > Help > Request support (sent to our support queue at iramccune.com; saved on the box and retried when offline)

"24/7" means you can contact us and urgent requests are triaged at any hour, every day. Some work (for example, ordering parts) happens during business hours, [BUSINESS HOURS, TIME ZONE].

4. Response-time targets

These are targets, not guarantees, and there are no credits or refunds if we miss them. "Response" means a person has acknowledged your request and started working on it, not that it's fixed.

Priority Examples First-response target
Urgent HomeButler won't start at all; can't reach any service; locks or lights stuck in a way that affects the household; suspected security problem 4 hours, any day
Normal One app not working; update help; adding a device; setting up an automation 1 business day
Low How-to questions; feature requests 2 business days

We set the priority based on your description. HomeButler Care is not an emergency service — for fire, carbon monoxide, intrusion, medical or other emergencies, call 911.

5. What's covered

  • The HomeButler stack: the HomeButler scripts and app, and the apps HomeButler installs and configures (Home Assistant, the local AI assistant, Immich photos, Nextcloud files, Jellyfin media, camera support, Tailscale remote access, and the Windows add-on if you bought it), in the configurations HomeButler sets up.
  • Setup help: first-time setup, connecting phones and tablets, adding supported devices and integrations, basic automations.
  • Updates: helping you download and install HomeButler releases, and rolling back to a previous release if an update causes problems.
  • Troubleshooting: diagnosing and fixing problems with the stack, including remote sessions you switch on.
  • Hardware warranty help: guiding you through a manufacturer warranty claim for a HomeButler box.
  • Reasonable help with your home network where it affects HomeButler (for example, finding the box's address or a router setting).

6. What's not covered

  • Third-party outages and changes: problems caused by a vendor's cloud service, app, API, firmware or account (for example Ring, Eufy, Google, Amazon, Apple, your AI provider, your VPN provider, your internet provider). We'll tell you what we find and help where we reasonably can, but we cannot fix someone else's service.
  • Hardware repair or replacement beyond the dead-on-arrival period and the manufacturer's warranty; physical damage; parts.
  • Un-validated skills: a box where you typed "VOID MY WARRANTY" to install a skill we have not checked is no longer covered by Care from that date (see Terms of Sale, Section 17). Signed skills from our Skills page stay covered.
  • Data recovery: we will try to help, but we do not guarantee recovery of lost or corrupted data. Keep backups.
  • Your other devices and network: computers, phones, TVs, routers, printers and smart devices beyond reasonable help connecting them to HomeButler.
  • Custom work: apps, integrations, dashboards or code that HomeButler does not install, or heavy customization. [Optional: available at $[RATE]/hour by separate quote.]
  • Unlawful use, including help finding sources or indexers for the downloads add-on.
  • On-site visits, other than the Family Hub install [unless separately agreed].
  • macOS and unsupported hardware.

7. Remote support — how it works and your consent

We never connect to your box without your permission, and you stay in control the whole time.

  1. You switch it on. When we ask, you run butler support on (or tap the equivalent in the app). This creates a temporary support account and shares your box with our support team's Tailscale account using Tailscale device sharing. Nothing is opened to the public internet.
  2. It is time-limited. Access ends automatically after [2 hours / the period shown on screen], or sooner when you run butler support off. You can switch it off at any time, even mid-session.
  3. Minimum necessary access. We access only what we reasonably need to fix the problem. We don't browse your photos, files, recordings or messages, and we don't copy personal content off your box unless you ask us to.
  4. Session log. We log who connected, when, what we did and what changed. You can ask for a copy at support@iramccune.com.
  5. Back up first. Some fixes involve risk to data. We'll tell you before doing anything risky, but you're responsible for having backups.
  6. Credentials. We will never ask for your bank or card details over remote support, and we will only ask for a third-party password if it's needed for the specific fix and you agree. We will never contact you out of the blue asking you to switch on support access — if someone does, don't do it, and contact us using the details above.

Each time you switch on support access, you consent to that session on these terms.

8. Cancelling

  • Online: [ACCOUNT / CANCELLATION URL] — a "Cancel plan" button in your account, no phone call or chat required. [Must be at least as easy as sign-up.]
  • Email: support@iramccune.com with "Cancel HomeButler Care" (include the email on your account).
  • Phone/text: [SUPPORT PHONE].
  • We will send you a confirmation email when you cancel.
  • Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current yearly billing period. You won't be charged again. No prorated or partial refunds (see Refund Policy, Section 3).
  • If we offer you a discount to stay, you can decline it and finish cancelling in the same step.
  • You can rejoin at any time at the then-current price.

9. Changes and ending the plan

  • We may change these Care Terms (for example, what's covered or the channels) with at least [30] days' email notice of any material change. If you don't agree, cancel before the change takes effect.
  • We may end your plan for a material breach of the Terms of Sale (including abusive conduct toward staff, unlawful use, or a fraudulent chargeback), with notice. If we discontinue HomeButler Care for everyone, or end your plan for any other reason, we'll give [30] days' notice and refund the unused part of the current year, pro rata.

10. Acknowledgment email

After you subscribe, we email you a confirmation that includes: the plan name and price, that it renews yearly until cancelled, your billing date, how to cancel (with a direct link), and a copy of or link to these Care Terms.
